Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a series of children’s books written by British novelist J.K Rowling. The books have become wildly popular spawning several feature length films and a plethora of Harry Potter merchandise making their author extremely wealthy. The books centre around the eponymous child wizard, Harry Potter who attends a magical boarding school for trainee wizards.

The first Harry Potter book was released in 1997 and a further six books were published until the series was concluded in 2007 with the release of the seventh and final book in series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. The Harry Potter series is attracted a huge fan base of children and adults some of whom are fanatical about the books. Since the first Harry Potter book the release of subsequent books in the series was eagerly anticipated by fans, many of whom queued for hours outside book shops before the midnight release of each book.

The Harry Potter films have fuelled the success of the books and played an important role in establishing a Harry Potter brand. There is an incredible amount of Harry Potter merchandise available, and more is made available with the release of each film. So far there have been five Harry Potter films and there a further two due, each one corresponding to book in the series. The films are just as eagerly anticipated as the books and they have drawn many new fans who were previously unaware of the Harry Potter books.

The success of the Harry Potter series of books has been viewed very positively by many people as they are seen to be encouraging very large numbers of children to read.
